Costuming/Casting Win

We've all seen the shots of Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs, but check out the photo of the actual Steve Jobs that it's based on...dayum! Costume designer: Lisa Jensen.

Margiela Flops at H+M

Hey, I was as excited as the next person, but it seems we all took one look at Maison Martin Margiela's line for H+M and passed. Which is sad because Versace for H+M sold out in, like, 5 minutes. Some are blaming higher than average prices at the discount retailer. I blame the ridiculous fashion. Ain't nobody want to pay hundreds of dollars to look like David Byrne in his Stop Making Sense days. Everything was XXL high fashion baggy pants, oversized jackets...scary non-street fashion. *sigh* Better luck next time MMM.

Color of the Year

Ladies and gentlemen, Emerald is the new black.
Or so says Pantone, which declared Emerald 17-5641 as the "It" color for the coming year. Stock up on it, in fabric form if not in gems. And BTW, recall who recommended the color to you way back in April.

Panty Droppa

I'm all sorts of taken with this print. Kinda sexy, kinda mundane, kinda sweet. Loads of room for interpretation. It's by Geoff McFetridge and was featured at a solo art show of his at Heath Ceramics in L.A. in 2008.

Cup of Cheer

Via AllDressedInArgyle
Know what's really good in mocha or hot chocolate? Cayenne pepper. Promise! The chocolate/spice tradition goes way back to the Aztecs and Mayans, who have been using the combo in drinks and sauces for thousands of years. Also Capsaicin's benefits include tons of Vitamin A, reduction of inflammation in the body, cardiovascular health, immunity and weight loss!

That's A Wrap

Ahh, holiday gift wrapping. Who doesn't love it?! Gifts are nothing without it. Presentation is everything. I like to do a theme every year and so I present to you some fun holiday options.

Seaside: The credit here goes to Coastal Living. I mean come on, octopus paper?! Whales? So cute.

Butcher Paper: You can't really go wrong with a nice black canvas.

Dark and Edgy: You can also play against type on the holidays for extra visual impact.

Pink & Gold: It's fun, it's festive and gilded and girly and if you like that sort of thing, have at it! Like champagne!

Holiday Sheen

Typically, I tend to shy away from anything but matte skin. Years of battling oily skin have caused a knee-jerk reaction to it. But I am so taken with this makeup! Shiny hair, shiny skin, shiny dress - it's all just so glowy and beautiful. Camille Belle at the Met Ball.

Thankfully, Glamour magazine was equally taken and have come to our rescue. It's CK One Skin Illuminator in Warm. The rest of her makeup is CK as well. Lip pencil in Gossip, lipstick in Smooch and lip gloss in Mad.

Many Faces of Nicki Minaj at the AMAs

My apologies for being away so long. I've had loads of real-life designs to get on the stage and I still have one more to go!
At any rate, I was going to recap the American Music Awards, but Nicki Minaj has given me enough pause in one night to devote this post, in it's entirety, to her and her many faces. She's not even a human being at this point so much as a cartoon character. Which is great for theatrics and all but I have to wonder what this woman is like in her down time.
